CLIMATE ADAPTIVE MEASURES

Water and heat

Green Parking Spots

Parking spaces are essential commodities of business parks. They are often made of impermeable concrete which causes risks.

Water cannot infiltrate through the concrete which causes damage to the concrete but also increases flood risk and damage to infrastructure and buildings. The concrete also retains heat which negatively affects employee well-being.

Green parking spaces are permeable which allows water runoff and vegetation growth - and will therefore limit flood risk and heat stress. It is an easily implementable solution for any business, with direct beneficial effects for everyone in the surrounding. Let’s get started!

PARK MANAGEMENT

In some business parks, there even is a park management that has a bit more organizing power than an overarching network organization as they often also have a budget. They could provide a role in kickstarting a climate adaptive project and assigning someone within park management to lead the way in this transition. Also, there are often opportunities to connect climate adaptation to other themes park management focuses on. For example, if they focus on providing more micro mobility, room could be saved for extra greenery and climate adaptation!

NETWORK ORGANISATION

Business parks often have an overarching organization such as a business club which focuses on themes like climate adaptation. They provide great opportunities to get in touch with other companies in the areas on these topics and see where you can join forces. Overarching organizations also facilitate sessions with other businesses on these topics. Want to get in touch with a local business park? Hop on to step 4!
